Anna Lee Roach Walker, 84, of Rabun Gap, GA passed away Thursday, December 5, 2019 in Atlanta, GA.

Born  in Hiawassee, GA, May 6, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Walter Pool Roach and Nola Bowen. She lived most of her life in Rabun County and worked self empioyed most of her life then worked for Traces of Tiger and she attended the North Clayton Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Nola Roach, by her husband, David Lee Walker, a son, David Maurice Walker, by three brothers, Jack Roach, Richard Roach and Carlos Roach and by three sisters, Margaret McManus, Mary Pauline Eller and Sara Henslee. She was the last member of her immediate family.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Kenny and Tammy Walker of Rabun Gap, GA and by four grand children, Kayla N. Walker, Leon E. Walker, Justin M. Walker and David K. Walker and by three great grandchild and one great great grand child.Lots of nieces an nephews also survive

Funeral services will be held at the graveside Tuesday, December 10, 2019 at Boyd’s Chapel Cemetery 6098 US-76 West Hiawassee, GA, at 11:00am with Rev. Clay Patton an Rev Don Barber officiating..

The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where visitation will be Monday, December 9, 2019 from 6:00pm to 8:00pm.

The family is at the home of her son, and daughter-n-law, Kenny and Tammy Walker,  on Walker Lane in Rabun Gap, GA.

Steve Tillman Warren: Obituary

Steve Tillman Warren, age 74, of Sky Valley, Georgia, passed away on November 26, 2019.

 

Steve was born on May 1, 1945 to the late Otha Tillman Warren and Laura Peugh. Steve was a former member of the New Hope Methodist Church in Hampton, Georgia and of Fayetteville United Methodist Church. In his professional career he was the C.F.O. of Tara State Bank and American Community Bank, and retired from FiServ Atlanta, in 2012. Steve relocated to Sky Valley in 2016, with his loving wife Caroline Warren.

 

Steve enjoyed Sudoku puzzles, Jeopardy, taking naps, and looking toward the mountains from his comfortable chair. He loved to feed the birds and spend time watching them.

 

He was a Veteran of the United States Army and was stationed in Germany at the beginning of the Vietnam War. While there, he received the Army Medal of Occupation guarding the Berlin Wall.

 

He leaves behind his loving wife, Caroline Ellis Warren, of the home; two sons, Gregory Michael Warren, of Monument, Colorado, CPT Allston Tillman Warren, of Colorado Springs, Colorado; one daughter, Michelle Warren Williamson (James), of Fayetteville, Georgia; five grandchildren, Christopher James Williamson, Donna Virginia Williamson Brooks, Ryan Thomas Warren, Alison Ruth Warren, Eric Matthew Warren; one great-grandchild, Cameron Brooks; and many nieces and nephews also survive him.

 

The family will hold a memorial service at 2:00 pm on Saturday November 30, 2019 at the Sky Valley Chapel with Rev. Monty Nelson and Rev. Edwin Steil officiating.

 

The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Steve’s memory to the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund P.O. Box 485, Rabun Gap, Georgia 30568.

Lowell Chester Rogers of Clayton died Thursday November 28, 2019 at his residence. He was the husband of Margaret Ann Rogers.

Born in Rabun County Georgia July 5, 1953 he was the son of the late Chester and Opal English Rogers. He was air force veteran and a Lab Technologist for Ridgecrest Hospital and a member of the Timpson Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death besides his parents, Chester and Opal Rogers by one brother, Billy Ray Rogers and is survived by his wife, Margaret Ann Rogers of the home by two sons, Ben Rogers of Clayton, GA., and Corey Rogers of Dallas, Texas and by eight grandchildren also survive.

The body has been cremated and no services are planned at this time.

Katherine Frances Fisk Lee, age 57, formerly of Silver Springs, MD., and Rabun Gap, Ga., died Wednesday November 20, 2019, at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Utica, New York following a brief illness.

Born June 20, 1962 in Burbank, CA. She was the daughter of the late Walter Wayne Fisk and Sarah Frances Bleckley Fisk and the grand daughter of the late Jasper Hoten Sr. and Icie Darnell Bleckley and the late Joseph Frank and Josie Beck Bleckley. She was a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School, class of 1980 in Silver Springs, MD., and a 1982 graduate of Washington Business School with a paralegal business administration degree. She was preceded in death by both her parents in 2012,. And a very Special friend her German Shepard “Justice.”

Survivors include one son, Brandon Bleckley Stewart of Rabun Gap, Ga. and Los Angeles, CA., one sister, Sarah Diane Pate (David) of Rabun Gap, Ga., one brother, Jeffery Wayne Fisk of Monroe, NC., one niece, Sarah Darnell Stone(Tim) of Rincon, GA., and one nephew, Logan Davis Darnell Pate of Rabun Gap, GA. One uncle, Wes Fisk (Susie) of Washington State and one aunt Eliane Baxter of Kansas , She was a member of Marvin Memorial United Methodist Church in Four Corners, MD.
She was the FRG leader at Fort Riley, KS., with numerous awards for her service to soldiers and their spouses.
She was a top paralegal for such firms as Weaver, Bennett, and Bland of Mathews, NC., Kansas Legal Services of Manhattan, KS., Clark, Griffin, and McCullom, LLC., of Monroe, NC., and Adams and Associates, Clayton, GA. She will be remembered by friends and family for the love she had for everything around her. Her faith, family, friends, and her mother’s home place on Betty’s Creek.

Funeral Services will be Saturday November 30, 2019 at the Betty’s Creek Baptist Church at 2:30 P.M with Rev. Ronia Hunter officiating. Burial will follow in the Betty’Creek Church Cemetery.

Walter Scott Dills, age 55 of Dillard, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019.

Born in Rabun County on June 16, 1964, Mr. Dills was the son of Genell Shirley Robinson and the late Lewis Dills. Mr. Dills was a United States Army Veteran having served in the South Carolina Army National Guard with over 21 years of loyal service. Mr. Dills was of the Baptist Faith and was currently employed with the City of Clayton where he was a Code Enforcement Officer. He has worked in Public Safety for over 35 years.

Survivors include his wife, Robin Dills of Dillard, mother Genell Shirley Robinson (Clay) of Clarkesville, daughter Kimberly Denae Dills of Dillard, sons Dakota “Kody” Lyman Dills of Dillard and Kyndal Scott Dills of Dillard as well as brother and sister in law Lewis Kirk and Angela Dills of White County.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, November 21, 2019 at Clayton Baptist Church with Rev. Michael Rogers, Rev. David Rogers and Rev. Karl Carpenter officiating. Interment will follow the service in Newman’s Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery in Otto, North Carolina. The family will receive friends at Clayton Baptist Church on Thursday prior to the funeral service from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM.

Carolyn Betty Gibson Tyler, 76, of Tiger, GA., died Wednesday November 13, 2019 at her residence. She was the widow of Rev. James Jefferson Tyler.

Born in Habersham County Georgia., January 5, 1943 She was the daughter of the late Harrison Gibson and Ethel Ivester Gibson. She was a Seamstress for Don’ L and a member of the Carvers Chapel Baptist Church for over 36 years.

She was preceded in death besides her Husband, Rev. James Jefferson Tyler. And her parents, Harrison Gibson and Ethel Gibson by two brothers, Garnet and Doyle Gibson and by three sisters, Annie Bell Waddell, CoraleeWhitfield and Evelyn Howard and is survived by two sons, Ray Tyler (Pam) and Johnny Tyler both of Clayton, GA., by two daughters, Lorraine Norris (Mike) of Clayton, GA., and Mechell Wall (E.J.) of Tiger, GA., Two brother, Clinton Gibson (Eva) of Toccoa, GA Thurmond an Pasty of Clarkesville Ga., one sister, Wilma Gomez of Habersham, GA., and one sister-in-law, Patsy Gibson of Habersham. Fifteen grandchildren, and thirty great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral Services will be at Carvers Chapel Baptist Church Friday November 15, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. With Rev. Allen Webb officiating. Burial will follow at Rock Mountain Cemetery Tallulah Falls, Georgia.

Besides her Mother and Father she was proceeded in death by one brother Bobby Speed and a Sister Mary Speed Bryson and is survived by her husband , David C. Gragg of Clayton , Ga. One son David Garrison Gragg of Clayton , Ga.,two brothers Allen and Dennis Speed (Kitty) of Clayton , Ga. , one sister Glenda Talley ,Clayton , Ga. One grandson Bryce David Gragg of Clayton and a special cousin Lamar Marcus along with nieces and nephews and cousins also survive.

Body is at the Hunter Funeral Home and will be taken to Hale Ridge Cemetery for Graveside Service Monday Nov.18 , 2019 at 1:00pm with Pastor Madison McCrackin officiating.

He is survived by one daughter, Kelly Hamilton of Florida., three brothers, Larry Hamilton and Mike Hamilton (Christy) of Tallulah Falls, GA., David Hamilton Cathy of Demorest, GA., and one grandchild that survives.

Michael was born in Rabun County , Ga. on April 3 , 1953 to the late Irene Dockins, He was in the Maintenance field at Fruit of the Loom and was of the Baptist Faith.

Besides his Mother he is proceeded in death by his wife Nancy Queen, two brothers Steve Gipson and David Dockins , and is survived by two sons , Christopher ” Bo” Queen (Angel) of Clayton , Ga. and Michael Queen (Jennifer) of Carrolton , Ga. and one brother , Allen Dockins of Villa – Rica , Ga. and 8 Grandchildren and 1 great grandchild and several cousins also survive.

Raymond Lee Dillman Jr., age 34, of Mountain City, Georgia, passed away on November 6, 2019.

 

Raymond was born the son of Raymond Lee Dillman Sr. and Brenda Lee Rohrbaugh Dickerson on April 30, 1985. In his professional life, he was employed as a carpenter and a maintenance caretaker. While he liked mechanical things, fishing, hiking, outdoor life, and was an avid fan of action movies, most of all, Raymond enjoyed spending time with his family and children.

 

His survivors include his wife, Olivia E. Dillman; three sons, Cole Dillman, Hunter Dillman, Forrest Dillman; two daughters, Meghan Dillman, Stella Echols; his mother, Brenda Dickerson; stepfather, Wesley Dickerson; his grandmother, Shirley Southards; Step-grandfather, Kalvin Dickerson; two brothers, Bobby Dickerson, Wesley Dickerson; one sister, Carrie Addis.

 

The family will receive friends on Saturday November 16, 2019 from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm at the Wolffork Baptist Church.

 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday November 16, 2019 at the Wolffork Baptist Church at 2:00 pm with Rev. Gabe Southards officiating.

Fred Kilby: Obituary

Fred Kilby, age 82, of Persimmon Road, Clayton, Georgia, entered into eternal rest Wednesday evening, November 6, 2019 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

 

Mr. Kilby was born in Rabun County on June, 16, 1937,a son of the late Ferdinand C. Kilby and Oza Christine Coffee Kilby. He was a graduate of Rabun County High School and a four year veteran of the United States Air Force. Following his military service, Mr. Kilby entered the aerospace industry, working with McDonnell-Douglas in St. Louis, MO and Lockheed in Marietta, Georgia. He would also own his own watch repair shop.

 

In addition to his parents, Ferd and Oza Kilby, Fred was preceded in death by six brothers, Coit, Carl, Claude, Furman, Curtis, and Dwight Kilby.

 

 

His survivors include his daughter, Felicia Smith (John), of South Carolina; two brothers, Rev. Jimmie Kilby (Juanita), of Mountain City, Georgia, F. Deleano Kilby (Harlene), of Tiger, Georgia; two sisters, , Christine Lee (Sandy),of Clayton, Brenda Sue Kilby, of the home; two grandchildren, Bradford and Breanna. Many nieces and nephews also survive him. He was loved by all that knew him and will be greatly missed.

 

 

The family will receive friends from11:00 am until 12:45 pm on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at the Beck Funeral Home.

 

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 pm on Saturday November 9, 2019 in the Chapel of the Beck Funeral Home with Rev. Glenville Nichols.

He was preceded in death beside his parents, Jim and Cleo Taylor by one brother, Earnest Taylor and is survived by his wife, Barbara Queen Taylor of the home., one son Ricky (Sharon) Taylor of Tiger, GA., one daughter, Connie Taylor Moore of Clayton, GA., one brother, Ed (Jennett) Taylor of Otto, NC., three sisters, Betty (Allen) English of Tiger, GA., Barbara (Larry) Woodall of Rabun Gap, GA., and Beatrice Welch of Clayton, GA., and one sister-in-law, Bessie Ann Taylor of Rabun Gap, GA. Several Nephews, Nieces and cousins also survive.

Funeral Services will be Wednesday November 6, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church with Rev. Harvey Conner and Rev. Hank Conner. Burial will follow at the Head of Tennessee Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Bryan Alexander conducting the graveside service.

Burl Ercell Parks: Obituary

Burl Ercell Parks, age 68, of Sky Valley, Georgia, passed away on October 30, 2019.

 

Burl was born the son of the late Ercell F. Parks and the late Elizabeth Louise Lovett Parks-McCathern on July 31, 1951 In Greenwood, South Carolina.

 

Burl was a Christian and a member the Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church. He was the past Rotary president, the Vice President of the Sid Weber Memorial Cancer Fund. He was a Master Mason, raised in Dougherty Lodge 591 and dual member of Rabun Gap lodge 265. He was a 32-Degree Member of the Valley of Albany Scottish Rite, and a member of the Hasan Shrine. He and his wife owned and operated Appalachian Insurance Agency. Burl earned the Chartered Life Underwriter and Chartered Financial Consultant from The American College in Brynmar, PA. He was a member of the Rabun County American Legion. He was also one of the first licensed EMT in the State of Georgia. When not busy with any one of these various responsibilities, he enjoyed working in his yard, and woodworking.

 

In addition to his father and mother, Burl was preceded in death by, one son, Burl E. Parks Jr.

 

His survivors include his loving wife, Carolyn McBurnett Parks; his son, Bryan Parks (Tanya), of Kennesaw, Georgia; half sister, Patricia Parks Bumgarner, of Lake City, Florida; four grandchildren, Brittany Parks  Lay (Michael), of Mountain City, Christopher Parks (Brittney), Benjamin Parks, Brandon Parks; four great-grandchildren, Lillianna Porter, Ezekiel Porter, Malachi Lay, Titus Lay.

 

The family will receive friends on Thursday October 31, 2019 at the Beck Funeral Home from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.

 

A funeral service will be held on Friday November 1, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Rabun Gap Presbyterian Church with Rev. Don Barber officiating.

 

The family will receive friends in Albany on Saturday November 2, 2019 at the Matthew’s Funeral Home, 3206 Gillionville Road, Albany, Georgia on Saturday from 12:00 pm until 1:30 pm.
