Jackson County man arrested in Rabun County after a string of burglaries

On Friday, July 1st, a search warrant and arrest warrant was conducted by the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office on a residence located in Jackson County, Georgia with the assistance of Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, Commerce Police Department and Toccoa Police Department.
After an extensive investigation by Investigators within our Criminal Investigations Division, they successfully identified Benjamin Reed Heaslip, 36 years of age of Jackson County, Georgia as the primary suspect in connection to the burglaries at the Rabun County Golf Club, Kingwood Country Club and Wildcat Grill in Rabun County.
The suspect, Benjamin Reed Heaslip, 36 years of age was arrested and transported back to the Rabun County Detention Center where he was booked and processed.
Since the search warrant was conducted by Rabun County Investigations, at least nine law enforcement agencies outside of Rabun County identified Benjamin Reed Heaslip as their primary suspect related to burglaries within their jurisdiction.

Two Charged with Felony After Traffic Stop on GA-15

On 11-18-2021, a Deputy with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on GA-15 for a traffic violation. Criminal Indicators were observed during the stop which led to K9 Bo being deployed. K9 Bo gave a positive alert on the vehicle which resulted in a probable cause search. As a result of the search, a quantity of methamphetamine was discovered. Samantha Rose Burrell of Rabun County was arrested for Possession with the Intent to Distribute Methamphetamine and Conspiracy to Commit a Felony (Distribution). Keldon Adam Dixon of Rabun County was arrested for Conspiracy to Commit a Felony (Distribution).
Both Burrell and Dixon are currently being held at the Rabun County Detention Center.
