Lakemont Man Arrested After Allegedly Threatening, Shooting at Power Crews

RABUN COUNTY, Ga. – A Lakemont man is facing multiple felony charges after authorities say he threatened and fired shots at utility workers who were restoring electrical service in Rabun County.

According to the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called Tuesday to the area of Bluebird Lane and Old Highway 441 after reports that a man had threatened and shot at power crews working to restore service in the area.

Sheriff Mark Gerrells said deputies responded and conducted a search for the suspect. Investigators later located and arrested Bobby Allen Mashburn, 56, of Lakemont.

Mashburn has been charged with one count of reckless conduct, two counts of terroristic threats, and two counts of aggravated assault. Authorities also seized a firearm in connection with the incident.

Sheriff Gerrells emphasized that threats or acts of violence against utility workers and others performing essential services will not be tolerated.

“These individuals are working to restore services and keep our community safe, and actions that place them in danger are taken very seriously,” Gerrells said.

The incident remains under investigation.
