RABUN COUNTY, Ga. — Deputies with the Rabun County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people and seized approximately 18 ounces of methamphetamine following a traffic stop earlier this week.
The stop occurred near GA 15 and Resort Drive, where deputies pulled over a blue Mercury Marquis. The occupants were identified as Charles Kevin Vanhorn and Kimberly Sue Elliott.
Investigators determined that both Vanhorn and Elliott were in possession of the methamphetamine, leading to their arrest on charges of trafficking methamphetamine and other related offenses. Both individuals are currently being held in custody.
Sheriff Mark Gerrells praised his deputies for their vigilance and professionalism, noting that their actions reflect a strong commitment to keeping the community safe. “The alertness, professionalism, and commitment to duty of our deputies continue to make a real difference in protecting Rabun County,” Gerrells said in a statement.
The sheriff emphasized that combating drug-related crime remains a top priority, and that the office will continue its efforts through enforcement, education, and community partnerships. He also announced that the department will soon begin releasing monthly updates on drug enforcement and criminal activity to keep the public informed of ongoing efforts.
